ENEMIES TO FOLLOWERS

"Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household."

Acts 16:32-34

Acts 16:32-34 illustrates another time when Paul and Silas brought the gospel to the household of the Philippian jailer. The persecution became an opportunity for sharing the love and forgiveness in Jesus. By sharing with the entire household, immediately as they put their faith in Jesus, they had spiritual community with whom to grow and to encourage in the faith. Discipling groups rather than individuals means the trusted relationships already exist among that group of believers; loyalty to one another is already present and provides a strong base for the gospel to spread to other households.

Disciple's Prayer for Today:

"Father, help me see opportunities for the Gospel when obstacles come against me. Direct me to entire households ready to believe and to follow Jesus. Help me disciple whole groups rather than individuals. Empower me to walk in forgiveness continually. Multiply households of faith especially when there is the least opportunity to hear about Jesus.”

Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:

"Father the Deaf in Oman have yet to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Your Son! Open the eyes of their hearts! Raise up more than enough workers to go to this abundant harvest field You've already prepared and bring in a great harvest of souls for You. Teach those You sent among them to be sensitive to sharing with households rather than only individuals. Despite persecution, help Your people walk in forgiveness and ready to share the hope within them. Amen"
