"In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another; not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”
Romans 12:10-11
This week’s church planting movement principle is: Distribute “Hot Coals”. Eighty percent of all movements are started by other movements--so sowing out teams from existing movements helps sow experienced laborers in order to more rapidly begin other movements elsewhere. “Hot Coals” are taken from one raging fire to light a fire in another place. The fire that burns in you as a “Hot Coal” is the Holy Spirit, the very Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and the Spirit that forgives all of our sins as it says in Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Today ask God to show you how His plan for multiplication is alive in the world today. Ask God to show you the plan He has for you to build His kingdom today on the earth. Ask God to bless an intentional “hot coals” strategy where disciples in a movement move to other unengaged unreached people or places where they have some kind of connection (e.g. family tie, near culture) in order to start another movement.
Ask God this week to give everyone involved in church planting movements a sense of their connectedness to the family of Christ as children of God. Practice listening to Holy Spirit daily for where He is sending you to prepare His way.
