“Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”2 Kings 7:9
In this story, the city of Samaria had been under siege and the people were isolated and starving. In desperation, several lepers had decided to risk going out to the enemy, hoping for mercy. They found that God had driven away the enemy, leaving behind all their goods including food. Although distracted in amazement, they soon realized that they had a responsibility to go share the good news with the city. Followers of Jesus are like those lepers—we have found true spiritual food. We must share with those who are starving! Father, help us keep sharing with more and more people of the wonderful salvation we have in Jesus.
"Father, Jesus is truly the Bread of Life; in Him, my soul finds true nourishment. Empower me to keep sharing this good news with everyone. May the compelling of Your love drive me onward. Holy Spirit, fill and empower every follower of Jesus to keep occupying well until You return, Jesus. Birth many new movements to Jesus in every people and place. In Your name and for Your glory I pray, Amen!"
Unreached of the Day's Prayer:
"Father, look down with favor on the 331,000 Muslim Turk peoples of India. They are trapped in darkness and need the light of Jesus to shine on them. Open every door to the gospel of Jesus Christ to shine among them today. Father, raise up men and women that have a heart to serve You among these people. Ignite revival among them. Birth prayer movements and movements of Jesus followers that multiply among them today! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!"
