THE JAILER

"Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Acts 16:30-31

As we consider outsider-insider partnerships in disciple-making, church planting movements, let's consider that all things work together for the good of those who love and serve the Lord. Acts 16 describes a series of events that led to the stripping, severe flogging and jailing of Paul and Silas in Philippi. Paul and Silas apparently were able to endure suffering well, even praying and singing hymns to God in the inner cell at midnight with their feet fastened in stocks. God used this to create an opportunity for the gospel, not only for all the prisoners who were listening to them, but for the jailer and his entire household. God uses everything and wastes nothing in working His will on earth. As a follower of Jesus, we must see God working all around us and in everyone we meet. Even when He is using something that is unexpected or new, we can see it for what it is and run with Him. God's ways are not our ways. So today, consider how God orchestrates each event in your life for a specific reason. Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to the reason for each person's presence in your life and in your ministry. Ask for more of His love to fill you for those around you. Perhaps God has a new partner who will open doors and ignite a movement to Jesus as you join hands.

Disciple's Prayer for Today:

"Father, thank You that You always hear me when I lift my voice to You. Increase my understanding of outsider-insider partnerships and how this principle can be applied in my life today. Give me Your perspective as I look at others, and fill me to overflowing with Your passionate love even for my enemies. Give me grace and let me show others grace today. Guide me to develop strong insider-outsider partnerships which facilitate powerful movements to Jesus. Amen.”

Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:

"Father, today the Swahili, Tumbatu peoples of Tanzania don't know You or the salvation that comes through Your Son, Jesus. Today send forth laborers into this rich and beautiful harvest field. God thank You for my own salvation and for all the new brothers and sisters You are bringing into Your family from among this people today. Cause each one to recognize their heavenly assignment and to minister in Your Spirit’s power. Let Your appointing be accompanied by ample anointing for Your service. In Jesus Name I ask, Amen!"
