DIE TO SELF

Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

JOHN 12:24

This week’s church planting movement principle is: Die to Self. After Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil by their own willful choice, death entered the world and they died. God’s creatures, designed to live with God following God’s ways, fell from grace and landed in the pit of their own way. All creation is held together by God’s intentional will. Now that we have come to Jesus and have been born again, put right with God through Christ’s death and resurrection, we have been redeemed into perfect fellowship with God Himself. The work of the Holy Spirit is transforming us to resemble our Father more and more each day as we listen to and obey His Word. To do so, we experience death to ourselves and our own wills more and more. Today, ask God for continual grace to walk the narrow path and to help others find their way with God as well. Jesus said, in John 12:24: “Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” It’s not about building a name for ourselves, or building our kingdom, or even building our church. Rather, it is Jesus’ Name being lifted up, His Kingdom and His Church! Pray that every disciple and movement leader intentionally and consistently dies to themselves in order to see Jesus’ kingdom multiplying.
