"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,"Hebrews 12:1
Sometimes the Word Of God feels full of contradictions: in one moment it speaks of being still and knowing God is God and the next it speaks of life as being like a race we are running. Both are truth. The standing still and knowing God is God is a heart attitude of trust and rest, and the race we are running is our walk with Him. If we look at life from eternity's perspective we can see that both being still and running are possible in the very same moment of time. I can move forward in what God has called me to do and I can do that because I know He is God. So as I run with all my might towards the upward call of God on my life, internally and externally, I am still knowing He is God and that all things are in His hands. Go Slow To Go Fast means trusting the one who both called us and commissioned us to do good works for Him. He is the Grand Conductor and He shows us the way and marks out the rhythm.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, here I am trusting You as God. Let me run my race with the endurance that comes from that faith and trust that I have in who You are today. Fill my life with Your peace as I press forward to run the race You've set me on. In whatever I find myself doing, let my mind be focused on You. I can run and not be weary and I can walk and not faint as I disciple the people You bring. May disciples truly follow You, Jesus, and become effective disciple-makers as they go slow to go fast.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, open the eyes of the Kurmanji Kurds today. Shine, Jesus, shine among these people who You created and who You love! Raise up more than enough workers among them today. Raise up people with generous hearts to give toward your work being done among them. Empower workers to model, assist, then watch and launch new disciples who become effective disciple-makers. Multiply flourishing fellowships of true followers of Jesus. Let today be a day of change for these peoples."
