"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings."1 Peter 5:8-9
Being a soldier of the kingdom of Heaven requires a daily awareness of the ongoing war raging in the heavenly realms for the souls of men. Satan hates anything that glorifies God—that includes you and those who you are sent to reach. So, be alert today and be of a sober mind, keeping an eye out for possible attacks, lies, and other ways the enemy may find to hinder as you press forward. The enemy looks for someone to devour—our instruction is to resist him and to stand firm in your faith. God’s Word tells us the enemy then will flee. Take up the shield of faith today. Push back every thought that exalts itself above the knowledge of God using verses from the Bible. Take comfort that we all experience this battle but we are not alone. Jesus has promised never to leave or forsake us.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, thank you for welcoming me into Your family. Thank You that You are a good Father who cares for and protects me in so many ways. Surround my family and me with Your guardian angels to keep us in all our ways. Teach me to stand in the gap for everyone you've put in my life. Help me be alert, sober and to resist the enemy as I walk in Your love today.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, I stand in the gap today for the Libyan Arab today. Show Your great mercy by opening doors that no man can shut to these people. Open heaven above Libya and pour out your Holy Spirit on these beautiful people created to be for the praise of Your glory. Empower believers to see the hearts of those You’ve prepared to hear; let them share boldly and disciple those who respond. As more and more become followers of Jesus, help them continually be alert and sober and resist the enemy’s schemes. Let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done among the Libyan Arab today."
