"Even in the face of severe anguish and hard times, their elation and poverty have overflowed into a wealth of generosity. I watched as they willingly gave what they could afford and then went beyond to give even more."
2 Corinthians 8:2-3
Our circumstances are no excuse to avoid generosity. God Himself gave His only Son, Jesus; Jesus gave us Himself, even His very life. The Holy Spirit is poured out generously to us as well. All we have, even our very lives, come from God. Since God has sacrificially given to us, we can give our time, our money, our abilities, and yes, even our very lives back to God and to those to whom God sends us. God is glorified through our generosity as we give to others in need, even to the giving of a cup of cold water. Ask God today to break the fear and any chains that hold you back from giving God all you have. We can never out give God.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, here I am. I raise my hands, my heart, and my life before you today. Teach me to be generous with all you've given me. Each day is a gift from you, so help me be sacrificially generous with the time you've given me. Help me steward well the money you've provided remembering that it is more blessed to give than receive. Teach me new ways to be sacrificially generous even as You have been to me that You may be glorified.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, thank You for Your great generosity to us in Jesus Christ. Today I pray for the Makassar peoples of Indonesia, that you overflow in Your great generosity by providing salvation to these beautiful people You love so dearly. Raise up men and women to follow You as disciples and to become effective church planters among them. Infuse the work of these laborers with Your heart of sacrificial generosity as they accomplish what You've called them to do. May Your Kingdom come fully in every home and throughout every place among the Makassar."
