UNDERSTAND THAT CHURCH IS FAMILY

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin."

1 John 1:7

Our church planting movement principle today is: Understand that Church is Family. Before time began, God existed eternally in loving community, Father, Son and Spirit, unity in diversity. God’s love is inclusive. He wanted other relationships with whom to share His abundant love, so He created man with the vision of having a family to share all He had created. Fellow followers of Jesus Christ are your brothers and sisters, members of your family in Jesus Christ. Jesus, right before He ascended to heaven, prayed for us to be one even as He and the Father are one (John 17). Leading others to Jesus expands our eternal family. God teaches us about Himself through our family relationships and compares the Church’s relationship with Jesus as a Bride with a Bridegroom. The New Testament gives us over one hundred fifty “one another” commands; God’s greatest commandment was to love Him and the second greatest to love one another. Romans 12:10 tells us: “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Pray for strong, loving relationships and loyalty to mark the Church. As brothers and sisters, work together as family, care for one another, and reach out to those who have not yet heard the Good News.

Ask God this week to give everyone involved in church planting movements a sense of their connectedness to the family of Christ as children of God. Practice listening to Holy Spirit daily for where He is sending you to prepare His way.
