"O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me."Psalm 131:1-2
This world is always on the move, always off to the next thing, an endless searching for what's next, yet as a follower of Christ, we hear His voice say, "Be still, and know that I am God." Consider today's verse: the psalmist says that he has quieted his heart to become like a weaned child with its mother. What a beautiful picture of a Christian sitting silently waiting on God, in total dependence on Him. Consider how becoming like "one of these little ones" can greatly enhance your ability to make disciples who multiply. Jesus said the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to children. Jesus also told us if He was lifted up, He would draw all men to Himself. Share the simple gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit so that nothing hinders its fruitfulness.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, I love You and I love Your ways. I rest today in Your arms. I surrender all the anxiety and pressure this world pushes at me, and I choose to quiet my heart and just wait on You. Breathe on me today. Simplify my life so that I can focus on You as my One Thing. Remind me today why I go, why I pray, and why you called me to make disciples of all men. Let the knowledge of Jesus Christ and Him crucified result in great harvest through me today.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, the Palembang peoples of Indonesia need believers to give them the good news of the gospel. Send your warring angels to do battle on behalf of the men, women, and children chosen for salvation today. May the good news come at the right time, to the right people, in the right way so that they simply multiply good fruit for Your glory. Shine your bright light among them and open their eyes today!"
