"For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish."
Luke 14:28-30
Today’s verse is very sobering for every follower of Jesus in that it causes us to stop and consider the true cost of discipleship. Following Jesus in this world is not easy and is a narrow road that few find. Many do not find the narrow way because the cost for walking it is everything. Everything is a price most are not willing to pay and yet it is the cost required by Jesus of those who follow Him. “In this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” Jesus said. Today, as you ask God to rapidly replicate your work among the peoples to whom you are called, ask Him to help you pause and consider the cost. Ask Him for a heart willing to pay any price to see His will done on the earth. Then, lean on Jesus to keep pressing forward as the harvest begins to come in and expand that you may not become weary and give up.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, You see where I am today and we both know that I have so very far to go yet, but I am encouraged by Your Word that tells me You will complete all Your good purposes in and through me. Thank You for loving me and allowing me to show Your love to others. Let me be a willing vessel and give out all You’ve given me to others. Fortify my heart so I am willing to pay whatever it costs to follow You to the end. Give me stubborn persistence to keep pressing through even as challenges come and work increases. Give me wisdom to release others in leadership and spread the weight among my sisters and brothers in the Kingdom.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, turn Your face toward the Yerwa Kanuri peoples of Nigeria today. Lord, they need You, Your light and Your love to fill their hearts. They need Your power to open their ears and hear Your call. They need the light of the gospel preached among them. Here I am, send me... in deeds or in prayers, Lord. Fill men and women with the burden of prayer for these people and also the burden to go. Multiply followers of Jesus who go and multiply other followers. Let these followers be willing to pay any price to overcome in Your Name, Jesus. Prepare them as they see Your Kingdom expanding to steward well the multiplying families of believers for Your glory."
