FOCUS ON LIVING STONES, NOT BRICKS AND MORTAR

"From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work."

Ephesians 4:16

This week’s church planting movement principle is: Focus on Living Stones, Not Bricks and Mortar. Most movements consist mainly of house churches or simple fellowships and house churches consist of individual people and households. The church is not an organization, but is the family of God. In 1 Peter 2:5 we read, “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house[a] to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” This verse says that every single believer, every household, are living stones in the house of God. So, as people launch multiplying movements for Jesus, our journey is about the people we meet along the way becoming family in His household. We are not building an organization, or making a name for ourselves. As sons and daughters, we are welcoming others into His global family and lifting up Jesus’ Name and fame. Pray that rather than focusing their resources on building buildings or making institutions, we focus on equipping disciples as members of His priesthood, His household. We build with living stones...people coming together following Jesus, loving God and one another, showing forth His praises to the watching world.

Ask God this week to give everyone involved in church planting movements a sense of their connectedness to the family of Christ as children of God. Practice listening to Holy Spirit daily for where He is sending you to prepare His way.
