"After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.”Luke 10:1
Movement catalysts, or people launching disciple-making or church-planting movements, focus on growth and multiplication by modeling, assisting, watching, and then launching. Luke 10:1 speaks of Jesus appointing seventy-two other disciples who are now sent ahead of Him everywhere He was about to come. Jesus began in a time of fasting and prayer. He gathered twelve disciples who did life with Him and watched Him as He ministered. Jesus assisted them. Here Jesus is appointing additional disciples to go out two-by-two. We can observe the pattern of each disciple seeing Kingdom life modeled, then being assisted, then being watched as they followed the model, and at last, being launched out on their own. Servant leadership seeks to reproduce other servant leaders who reproduce and release others that go and do likewise in ever-widening circles of relationship. In this manner, flourishing families of Jesus followers result.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, I long to model Jesus to everyone in my life. I long to have such a deep relationship with you that it pours out of me into the lives of those you have placed in my life. Make me more and more like you. Help me model Kingdom living, assist others to live it, watch as they follow Jesus on their own, then launch them with my blessing, rather than continuing to control and limit their ministry. Reproduce through me health reproducing disciples.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, thank You for always giving us Your best in all situations and circumstances when we come to You. Today I bring the Arabic-speaking Algerians peoples of Burkina Faso before You -- turn Your face and heart of mercy toward them. Raise up laborers to work among them that shine like bright stars in the darkness. May these servant laborers faithfully model Jesus’ life, assist others to walk in His steps, watch as they model for others, then launch and release them to continue multiplying Jesus followers throughout the Algerians and beyond."
